ESA (The Ecological Society of America) and Scientific Publishing—Past, Present, and Pathways to the Future

  • The world of scientific publishing is undergoing dramatic changes as technological advances alter the way in which we communicate and share information. Open access, preprint servers such as arXiv, and online reference networks like Mendeley are among the innovations borne of the Internet Age. For nearly 100 years, the Ecological Society of America (ESA) has published some of the top journals in the fields of ecology and environmental sciences. Our journals have been and continue to be a core function of the Society and are integral to its operations and existence as the professional home for 10,000 ecologists.
