Law librarians are being asked to provide an ever-widening range of services, and many of those services involve technology; email and word processing proficiency are simply no longer enough. This session will address specific personal skill sets and technologies needed in law libraries. Our panel of speakers – two library directors and an electronic services librarian – will discuss the tech skills they expect to see in today’s – and tomorrow’s – law librarians. The panel will discuss troubleshooting and experimentation, researching new technologies, independent learning, scripting, app creation, and writing for social media. They will also address the role and relative importance of social media, content management systems, scripting languages, mobile technologies and devices, and digital repository software platforms.
