LIBER Extends Sympathies After Turkish Mining Disaster #soma

LIBER

LIBER recently wrote to the Turkish Library Association, to extend its sympathy at the news of the mining disaster in Soma.

Mr. Ali Fuat Kartal
President
Turkish Library Association

Dear Mr President

On behalf of the Board of LIBER (Association of European Research Libraries), I am writing to extend to you and to library colleagues in Turkey our deepest sympathy at the news of the mining disaster in Soma. It is scarcely credible that such terrible events can happen in an era dominated by modern technologies. We are shocked by the loss of 301 Turks in the disaster and the impact this will have on their families and their fellow citizens. At such a time, please let me assure you that our thoughts are with you and your members and all those affected by these dreadful events.

Paul Ayris
On behalf of the LIBER Board
