James Hyman’s fixation with accruing magazines began when he was a comic-obsessed child. Today, he owns the largest collection of magazines in the world (68,000 unique magazines) and is searching for a way to digitize his extensive archive. The filmmaker Angus Dunsire profiles this singularly huge magazine collection and introduces a few of the characters behind the efforts to preserve it. “There’s so much inside a magazine which can never be echoed by the videos or by the web,” says Danny Posner, founder of the Vintage Magazine Company. “Which ultimately is quite repulsive to me anyway.”
