DYING TO DIVORCE is a brand new observational documentary about the women fighting against domestic abuse and the murder of women in Turkey. Last year alone nearly three hundred women were killed- the majority were seeking a divorce or separation. And the men are literally getting away with murder by using legal loopholes to argue they were ‘provoked’ by their wives. Our film follows a group of female lawyers, activists, MP’s and survivors as they tackle this violence head-on; fighting to change the law and to bring violent husbands to justice. It will explore both sides of these stories and hear the perpetrators own reflections on their actions.
