A luxurious hotel in space is set to launch in 2021.
A Houston-based space tech firm, Orion Span, has announced that it will be creating the first-ever luxury space hotel which will launch into the Earth’s orbit by 2021. Dubbed ‘Aurora Station’, it will open its doors to visitors in 2022.
However, the firm will charge its tourists a hefty price tag of $9.5 million for a 12-day stay. Those who are interested will be required to pay an up-front deposit of US$80,000.
CEO of Orion Span Frank Bunger, said that the company’s mission is to “make space accessible to all, by continuing to drive greater value at a lower cost.”
“Upon launch, ‘Aurora Station’ goes into service immediately, bringing travelers into space quicker and at a lower price point than ever seen before,” Bunger said in a statement.
The company plans to build the space station on its own, but information on the launch details has yet to come forth.
