#Reading to Recovery

This short film aims to show how communities can aid in the Recovery Journey . It is a film of hope and inspiration in the face of adversity . It shows how people using substances can make optimum use of community facilities such as a Community Library to benefit the wider community and also aid others in their Recovery thus making Recovery visible , challenging the stigma of homeless people who are in Recovery and who have overcome barriers in order to progress their journey .

Lee Ayres ….. Lee is the founder of ” Lee’s Book Club ” He is in active recovery and decided to start the Book Club in order to benefit others in the community . He has been without a home for 6 years and is an avid reader . He has sponsorship from Penguin Books and is currently writing his own book on his experiences of homelessness and substance use

Graham Murney …. Graham is also in active recovery . Graham attends the Book Club and is a very talented illustrator and has started his own children’s book with his own illustrations .

Matthew Vaughn … Manager of the Library and co author of Lee’s book . Also hosts the Book Club at Westcoates Library
