The Little Book of Accessibility by #GarethFordWilliams

This presentation draws on my experience over the last 16 years in digital accessibility at the BBC. It is a collection of observations, affirmations, quotes and the like that summarise some of my epiphanies and learnings that every accessibility manager needs to get to grips with. This is not about guidelines, techniques, patterns or research, but something more fundamental and akin to the truths behind the tools and techniques we use everyday. The Little Book of A11y is the title and each slide acts as stimulus for discussions around culture, strategy, design, technology, diversity, inclusion and opportunity. These are themes that could form the basis of an accessibility strategy for any organisation as they are about approaches or perspectives to common specific accessibility issues. This is not about as specific as semantics or tab ordering, but are written to help organisations understand why these things are important and even how accessibility can be self-sustaining.
